We are Nannies, Moms, Sitters, Agency Owners and Awkward Dancers
We have decades of childcare, parenting, business and advocacy experience. Importantly, we use our expertise to transform the nanny industry. Between diaper changes and knock-knock jokes, we elevate the nanny industry as a professional trade. We also support families and nannies as our country struggles with high-quality, affordable childcare.
Our History
In 2019, a group of 30+ parents and nanny industry leaders came together and founded the Association to
- EProvide resources and tools that help families and nannies navigate the private employment of in-home childcare
- EElevate the nanny industry so it’s equivalent to other professional trades
The Time is Now
We welcome everyone. While our tools and resources focus on the childcare customs and employment laws in the United States, we support nannies and families all over the world.
Together, we can elevate the nanny industry.
Objectives & Values
Every Nanny and every Family is unique which can make the path to successful in-home childcare challenging. Nannies may not have coworkers who can provide guidance. Families can’t use a standard job description. Thus, each step is customized with families and nannies relying on their peers, shared resources and past experiences. The US Nanny Association is a reputable source of information and assurance for parents and nannies.
Uplift the childcare community. We invest in programs, services, events and activities dedicated to support the needs of nannies, parents, staffing agency owners and educators.
Promote inclusiveness and diversity. Our membership, leadership and staff reflect our commitment to valuing all persons and supporters in our childcare community.
Believe in customized solutions. We acknowledge that every family and every nanny is unique with personal needs, values and goals. One size does not fit all.
Provide and share educational resources. Our content and tips are evidence-based often recommended by the American Association of Pediatrics to share best practices in childcare.
Elevate childcare skills. Nannies should invest in their careers with reputable training. Different from babysitting, Nannies should have advanced knowledge to provide high quality childcare.
Define nanny standards. The National Nanny Standards create a childcare career path for nannies, newborn and infant care and professional nannies.
