Certified Nanny

The Nanny and Childcare Provider (NCP) Certification is designed for nannies and sitters seeking to establish and maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment for children. Certified nannies usually seek part-time, full-time and /or summer or resort positions with families or employers. Certified nannies often are solely responsible for multiple children before and after school, during the week and for weekend care.

Why get a Credential? Here are the requirements to earn the NCP Certification:

  • Be at least 18 years old and have a valid form of identification issued by a state or national government which includes your legal name, photo, and birthday​

  • Have earned a high school diploma, general education diploma (GED) or equivalent secondary education

  • Have current adult and child CPR and First Aid training and certification

  • Have completed at least 20 clock hours or 3 credit hours of documented childcare and/or early childhood education training from any reputable training organization

  • Have at least 2,000 hours (1 year) of documented, paid childcare experience. Documentation includes a pay stub or submitting a form completed by an employer​

  • Pay the $299 Credential fee. Credential fees are non-refundable

  • Pass the NCP proficiency exam. The NCP proficiency exam has 100 multiple choice questions based on the National Nanny Standards. You get two (2) attempts to pass the exam

  • Optional - Not Required. For those who need training hours or need training on topics listed in the National Nanny Standards, you can take the NCP Review Class. The NCP review class is online with 24/7 access, takes 6.5 clock hours to complete and costs $149). If you complete the course in its entirety, you will get a certification of attendance that can be used towards the NCP or continuing education training requirement. Review course fees are non-refundable.
